Jeyashree is a PhD student in Cardiovascular Biology at the University of Cincinnati, where she studies how changes in metabolism contribute to cardiovascular aging and heart disease. Her path in science has included research, teaching, mentoring, and overcoming challenges that have shaped her approach to mentorship. She has mentored undergraduate researchers in classroom and lab settings and supported STEM students with academic and career development at the University of Cincinnati, Cal Poly Pomona, and the University of North Dakota. Jey believes that mentorship is about more than giving advice. It is about listening, building confidence, sharing honest experiences, and helping students recognize their potential. Having experienced both successes and setbacks in her own scientific career, she understands how important it can be to have someone who believes in you while you are still learning to believe in yourself. Outside of science, she enjoys trying new foods, watching horror movies!
