Hi, my name is Carlos Waddle and I’m a Research Assistant at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. I recently received my B.S. in microbiology (2023) at the University of Texas at Arlington. Currently, I undergo research in pathophysiologic mechanisms involving mineral metabolism mediating the acute kidney injury, acute kidney injury-to-chronic kidney disease transition, cardiovascular complications of chronic kidney disease as well as nephrolithiasis or more commonly known as kidney stones.

What are you most proud of in your work or life?

I am most proud of my growth as not only a researcher and leader, but as an individual through my experiences.

What are your passions and hobbies?

I am passionate about science and providing new opportunities to those interested in pursuing a career in STEM. My hobbies are reading non-fiction science books, trying new coffee shops in the DFW, and spending time with my friends.

Do you have a personal motto or other words to live by?

Failure may feel like a loss, however, failure helps cultivate and assists in the growth of a better individual through constant learning.

Favorite snack food?

coffee flavored gelato (I’m addicted to coffee anything).
