Hello there! My name is Cori and I’m a software engineer at IonQ, a quantum computing company. Here at IonQ, our computers are made up of individually trapped ions floating in a magnetic field that we shoot lasers at to change their state. As you might imagine, there are a lot of very intricate device interactions that have to happen to make this system work. As part of the Quantum Control System team, I work to make sure these interactions are as well-orchestrated as possible. Before IonQ, I attended Brown University and engaged in many of their mentoring opportunities. I have benefited from some stellar mentors in my life, and I have always found mentoring to be a rewarding way to put my own mistakes to good use. In a discipline that is normally lacking in empathy and inclusion, I believe mentoring to be an integral part of forming a truly supportive community.
