Maggie Dressel joined the USPTO in 2022 as an Education Program Specialist. In this role, she designs and delivers IP and invention-focused educational programming and resources for young people and educators on local and national levels. Prior to joining the USPTO, Maggie spent 15 years in the nonprofit sector, including roles at Conservation International and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington. She also directed the Future City Competition, a global STEM education program for middle school students, for eight years. Maggie earned a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies, Education, and Environmental Science from Barnard College in New York City and lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with her cat, Ed.

What are you most proud of in your work or life?

Helping young people embrace their power as change-makers and realize their ability to make the world a better place.

What are your passions and hobbies?

I have the coolest cat ever and I love hanging out with him in our front yard. I also enjoy powerlifting, baking, and DIY home projects. If I’m not at the office, I’m probably at a concert – I love live music!

Favorite snack food?

I’m a HUGE fan of pickles. I also always have some form of chocolate on me, ready to enjoy!
