An Annual Celebration of American Excellence in Science and Technology

Since its inception, the NSTMF has honored the men and women who receive America’s highest honors in science and technology: the National Medal of Science and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. These medals, bestowed by the President of the United States, recognize those who lead our country and the world in scientific and technological advancement. Their passion for knowledge has taken us beyond our planet, to the bottom of our seas, and deep within the neural pathways of the human brain.

The NSTMF honors these accomplishments by hosting the STEM Wellspring, an annual three-day celebration of ingenuity and excellence in STEM. The Wellspring honors the new class of Laureates, the broader Laureate community, and leaders in the STEM community doing excellent work in the lab and in support of their community.

The STEM Wellspring comprises three days of programming in Washington, D.C., where the STEM community comes together with institutions, lawmakers businesses, students and affinity groups to celebrate American scientific and technological excellence. With an eye toward community building, advocacy, and inclusion, the Wellspring provides a unique opportunity to not only highlight STEM excellence but also inspire future Laureates. Over the three days, Laureates, students, teachers, policymakers, government agency representatives, media, and STEM organizations will have unique opportunities to share stories, tackle problems, and create lasting relationships.

The last celebration of NMS and NMTI Laureates was held on May 19, 2016. You can view pictures from the White House Ceremony here.

Your contribution to the NSTMF not only serves to celebrate scientific advancement, ingenuity, and exploration, but also symbolizes your commitment to building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive future in STEM.
